| What is this contest thing? Welcome to the second international glider contest for X-Plane flight simulator. Enjoy the ride in one of the two gliders waiting for you in the public dESPair hangar ! The goal of the contest is to have fun flying with a nice bird over interesting scenery and try to beat the performance of your fellow pilots (or yourself). It is not about money, pride and cheating.
| |
| Who can participate? Virtually everyone is invited to participate in the contest. Although, there are some limitations: you need X-Plane 5.54 or later to fly our scenery and our glider. The dESPair scenery runs well on machines with as few as 8 MB VRAM and moderate CPUs. (16bit/highres/12nm vis.) |
| How to register for the contest? To participate in the contest, you need to register in our database. Please use the registration form on the registration page. Once you are registered to the contest, you gain access to the contest scenery files, the textures, objects and aircraft files required to fly the contest. Before you register, you might want to read the public accessible documents in the documents section. There you will learn how to fly the contest, how to handle the logbook and some disclaimers and copyright notices. | |

The spirit of the contest The glider contest has been initiated, created and organized to get more fun out of XP. Lots of skilled people are creating freeware stuff, but the glider contest is the first that includes the majority of those elements - wrapped in a beautiful challenge: the glider contest. The contest is open to every nomad of the sky. It's about having fun with an excellent glider, cruising over custom scenery and watch custom objects around airports and trying to beat your last flight time. It's not about being the greatest dude. We are sports, not fighters. We want to have fun like a flying club, not a competition with the "bloodlust" button switched on... Cheating means cheating on yourself, because you will miss the best part of the whole thing: enjoying the beauty of a glider flight over nice places. You might get at the top of our list. Great. But was it fun for you?

| About the organisator dESPair is proud to show another masterpiece of international cooperation. The team who initiated, designed and implemented the contest is two people big, but the list of involved people is much longer. Read some background and staff information in the "Contact" section. | |
