Visit the public hangar, and read the stories to get an idea about our fleet's history. You see, we don't just go out an buy an aircraft. dESPair is different in many aspects - and aircraft acquisition is one of them. Thus, we treat our planes with all our respect, and we care about them like a good father does about his children. This means, we don't give them away. We maybe, but only maybe, let you fly a short trip with them, but nothing is promised. You won't rent me your wife for a whole night, would you? If you are an accredited dESPair pilot, then you will not have any troubles getting into your fellow's cockpits. All you need to do is to request an official flight licence. Read on below: 2) Getting your own plane When you are invited to join the illustrous dESPair pilot gang, you have one aircraft free. Simply go to the registration form, and tell our chief acquisition manager what bird to look for. To register the bird, you need to send the HQ the available plane data, and once your bird has dESPair livery, you need to send us a copy of the official acf package. Later, when you think your skills allow for a second, third, fourth... aircraft, you contact dESPair headquarters to discuss the deal. Each plane you own will get it's own entry in the central logbook. You can have many planes. Principially. But, for each aircraft you own, you are the flight master. It is up to you to gather detail data about your bird. You need to collect all the knowledge, 'cause your friends will be asking YOU, when they need help with this aircraft... we expect stall speed charts, flight envelope data, flight manoeuvre techniques, landings under difficult conditions etc. So, you need to spend quite some time with the aircrafts you own. Chose them cautiously... [top] 3) Using other planes than your own Basically our registered aircrafts can't be flow simultaneously by multiple pilots. If you want to fly a certain type just once, you should check where it is currently located, and contact the current PIC. If you fall in love with one of the aircrafts, contact the flight master of this bird. He will clear things with dESPair HQ, and we will try to get one more piece of the given aircraft (if possible). If we can manage to get our hands on such a plane, we will register it in the logbook. If you have downloaded any dESPair aircraft, remember that you can't log flights, as long as you don't have the permission of the flight master, and you have either moved to the current location of the aircraft, or the current PIC has accepted your plea and moved the plane near you. You can fly as many aircrafts of any type you want - but you can't log non-dESPair flights. And all dESPair flights have to be performed in officialy registered aircrafts. In your private pilot career you can do what you like, fly how and what you want - in the dESPair career, you can only log flights that comply with the official dESPair rules (read the operating manuals). We think it adds fun to have to organise the plane exchanges. And later we will expand the hangar section to feature a booking system, where you wil be able to pre-book any plane you need for your assigned tasks. [top] 4) Introducing a new plane If you want to introduce a new aircraft type, you need to supply us with a POH and as much data about the aircraft as you can find, and of course you need to send us the acf file. You will be responsible for the collection of knowledge about the aircraft, and you should gather stall data, landing data, information about the flight envelope etc. dESPair relies on each flight master to become a real master of his owned aircrafts. Then, they serve their compadres as perfect instructors and teachers! And we expect that each introduced aircraft get's his own story, his own "face" and vibes, and we also expect you to fly all of your owned planes from time to time. If you own a lot of planes, you will need to switch planes often... We expect that a flight master is flying at least a couple of the missions to give us other pilots an idea on how the planes might be used, and where it won't fit the requirements. [top] 5) Introducing a duplicate plane. You might fall in love with a certain aircraft, owned by another dESPair pilot. If the aircraft is at your local dESPair hub and not the primary aircraft of another pilot, you might get the ownership for this bird. Ask the respective flight master. If you can't easily share/rent the aircraft, and you have been a nice guy during the year, dESPair HQ might get a duplicate of this aircraft for your christmas present... Technically, you get an aircraft template with dESPair livery, but no name and no tail number. Before you can log any flights with this aircraft, you need to register your aircraft with dESPair HQ. [top] 6) Sharing your own aircraft. Maybe someone else falls in love with your plane... then you might get asked to lease your babe for a few flights. Be prepared to deliver valuable instructions, if you dare to get your baby back in one piece. Sharing your aircraft means that the other pilot should get the latest acf version from the dESPair hangar section. Then you arrange the dates where you can't use your own plane - because your friend is using it. And how do the template come to the hangar? Well, once you want to register an aircraft, you should have the dESPair livery finished. Then you create a version without tailnumber and personal insignia - this is the internal template. If you want to have the aircraft available for download to the broad public, create a version without dESPair logo. As soon as you have sent us the acf package(s), we will put it up to the hangar.
