Pilot Operating Information

Take Off: flaps down 10* ( 20* with load) mixture set to full rich
throttle up to 36 mp (manifold pressure) (36.6 is max.) slowly open prop to 2300 rpm. release brake roll out at 50&Mac246; 60 mph retract gear when climb established (amphibian) Water Take Off: flaps down 10* ( 20* with load) mixture set to full rich throttle up to 36 mp slowly open prop to 2300 rpm. gently lift nose to get up on the step, then lower to plane lift off at 50 mph

Climb: slowly decrease prop rpm to 2000 (2200 with load)
reduce throttle to 30 mp (32 with load) maintain climb speed of 75 mph
climb rate of 600&Mac246; 700 fpm reduce flaps to 10*

Cruise: decrease prop rpm to 1800 reduce throttle to 28 mp
level out flaps up mixture lean to peak EGT (gives better fuel economy, but slightly reduced power)

Runway Landing: adjust mixture to rich carb heat (as required) slowly decrease prop rpm to 1400 throttle down to 25 mp flaps down slowly to 30* (full for steeper approaches) make slight adjustments to throttle and prop pitch to maintain approach speed of 75 mph lower gear (amphibian)
Water Landing: (glass top landings are the most difficult) adjust mixture to rich carb heat (as required) slowly decrease prop rpm to 1400 throttle down to 25 mp flaps down slowly to 30* (full for steeper approaches) make slight adjustments to throttle and prop pitch to maintain approach speed of 65&Mac246; 70 mph adjust tabs for nose up attitude sink rate 200&Mac246; 300 fpm
